Celtic Music Radio broadcast from Braehead Shopping Center

It was music to the ears of radio station bosses when they were lucky enough to move into a new studio complex at the Braehead Centre.

Celtic Music Radio has now begun broadcasting its extensive range of traditional and contemporary folk, roots, Americana and world music programming from a new home in the popular Renfrewshire shopping centre.

It is believed to be the first time in the UK that a radio station will broadcast from a shopping centre.

And thanks to the move to their Braehead base, there can now be more live performances and artist interviews streamed from a new live recording area in the studio.

Celtic Music Radio is a community radio station run by committed and enthusiastic music-loving volunteers broadcasting 24 hours a day in the Glasgow area on 95FM and online worldwide.

Alex Jenkins, Chairman of the Board of Celtic Music Radio, said: “This wonderful arrangement made possible by Braehead Center gives Celtic Music Radio a new home where we can start a new era for the station, which is now in its its 15th year.

“We really appreciate having a new base as we move forward to deliver great programs every day, all day.

“We look forward to strengthening our association with such a prestigious and popular center with so many people.

“Our tech team is working hard to keep everything running smoothly, so in due course we will be able to invite emerging and established artists into the studios to play and be interviewed – a key part of what we do.

“We will continue to build a vital and vibrant music community and provide listeners here and around the world with the best possible lineup of programming.

“Our heartfelt thanks go to those at Braehead Shopping Center who made this possible.”

Braehead Center Director Peter Beagley said: “Celtic Music Radio is an example of how committed, like-minded people can create an exciting and grassroots community enterprise.

“The programs broadcast by the station are not only listened to by large audiences in the Greater Glasgow area, but by many people living around the world.

“Braehead is very committed to our local community and we were delighted to be able to assist the community station in their search for a new broadcast studio.”
