Carli Lloyd calls it a career for USWNT – WQKT Sports Country Radio

United States legend of the national women’s team Carli Lloyd signed his international career in emphatic style Tuesday night at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a 6-0 Overcome South Korea.

Lloyd, who scored three memorable goals in the first 16 minutes of the United States’ victory in the 2015 Women’s World Cup final, hangs up his boots after a decorated career that includes two World Cup titles and a pair of Olympic gold medals.

Lloyd, 39, ranks second in the world for most international appearances after appearing in 315 career games. She scored 134 goals for the United States, third in women’s team history.

“Someone said Carli was the United States Women’s National Team. She is courageous. She is relentless. She’s determined, intense and just doesn’t take no for an answer, ”said US coach Vlatko Andonovski. “She just pushes and finds a way. So I think she’s a great representative of what this team is. “

She became the first American to score in four different Olympic Games, and her 10 total goals in the event set a new record among American players.

Lloyd’s teammates made sure she came out in style after the United States and South Korea drew 0-0 on Thursday to end the Americans’ 22-game winning streak at home. Tuesday’s win extended the home unbeaten streak to 62 (56 wins, six draws).
